SW30A extender locked up to config

Hi. I have recently tried to access directly an SW30A WiFi EE extender. It doesn't have a web interface, it doesn't respond to telnet nor SSH, it doesn't advertise its IP address, even though a network scanner revealed a 192.168.1.222 address. It's bizarrely basic and locked up. Its ethernet port is pretty basic requiring  a crossover cable in 2024! I had to use a switch to be able to connect to a laptop it as my spare crossover cable is somewhere in the attic. What on earth is this device? Has anyone tried to connect to it successfully? I know you can connect via the Smart Hub Plus, but I can't for the moment as ther eis a glitch with Smart Hub and already registered EE account email addresses as far as I have read somewhere on this forum. HH Home app doesn't work, of course. Same issue. I don;t think I have seen something so ridiculous. There is no manual for it. Why would that be cause you cannot access it via the usual ways anyway.

Awaiting some feedback.

Kind regards, Julian.

@JulianP Correct, no web interface, used wireless or wired backhaul, does not require to have a crossover cable either. Smartwifi device designed to keep you out of it.

I am assuming it only works Smart Hub <-> WiFi i'face -> WiFi i'face <-> Extender, End user Device either via ethernet or WiFi on the extender. You can't actually use it as an AP, aka connect the extender to the hub via ethernet. Well, I am assuming that is why is called an extender (well, pure extender) and not AP.

The rest is appalling (management  wise) anyway, as previously mentioned. Connection wise, it does the job.

Regards, Julian.

@JulianP Designed as a mesh extender/booster or whatever, you may and i mean may see what is going on with it if you web into the hub manager http://192.168.1.254 or whatever ip if you have changed it defaults. It wins at keeping you out!!!!

What's 'HH'? EE? Why of course? Cuz you tried it & it doesn't work? Or cuz the EE Home app is not intended for the EE SH+ but for the EE Smart Router. You should be using the EE app not the EE Home app.

OK, EE app it is. EE home was probably  an interim solution for the Plus versions, as seen in some posts within this forum.

Nothing works there man. All it did in the end was informing me that my phone's WiFi is setup correctly, which I already knew. I'll keep trying, maybe give my router a restart etc. I have services running behind it, so it might have to wait.

It's a ridiculous solution anyway.
