SH+ Change IPV4 address difficulties

JeanPharmacien

Just had FTTP installed and its working well. Issue is that my old router used a different IP range - and all my media devices/servers are hard coded (for remote admin reasons)

I've tried to change the Gateway Router Address in the IPV4 settings  but on save then reconnecting/resetting the wifi, I cannot log back into the router on new address or old one. In fact the (unchanged) wifi password is rejected.

There seem to be no online manuals for the SH+, has anyone successfully changed the network IP range to a 192.168.xx.0/24 from default one?

I've used many more complex routers and multiple networks but not had this issue so I must be missing something

Thanks for any help/advice

On the Advanced Settings > My Network > IPv4 Config page can't you change the 3rd part of the Preferred DHCP Range when set to Custom & the Gateway IP Addy in line with it? Then Save.

@JeanPharmacien   Who was the previous ISP, and could you use that router again?

Not much info on the latest EE router, But I guess it depends on the IP rage you were using.

@JeanPharmacien Yes, changed fine, also changed dhcp range, and using assigned fixed ip's for devices and changed some device names, but you have to use the "stupid mobile app" for doing that.

Checked both by leaving alone to ensure working, then changed to range wanted. Make sure you don't have a clash. and better to setup with just router and single network cable connected to your device, if new ip not being assigned to your connected device have a look at it's network properties and you may have to reboot it. Always better to power cycle router once you have saved your changes to take effect.

Exactly what I did. However then cannot link to nerwork with either new or old credentials

I had used a Billion 8900AX, it should cope with reconfiguring WAN to PPPoE with port set to 'Ethernet' rather than DSL.

I am going to try this next...

Have to say, didnt use mobile app. Always used web frontends in the past...usually more trustworthy

@JeanPharmacien Would be the way to go, connected direct to your ONT.👍

What new or old credentials? Changing DHCP range doesn't change any creds.

Used a poor term there, I meant trying to log into network using original wifi password
