Ring floodlight camera issues on firmware update

I've been having issues with my Front Ring camera dropping off and disconnecting (rebooting hub reconnects camera for half a day). The rear camera is like RSSI-70 as well so has a very bad connection.

I had this issue a while back and it was due to a firmware issue until it was fixed... because it started again I checked my Smart Hub 7 settings and noticed it has done a recent firmware update, which matches with when this issue started again.

The front camera is closer to the hub than the rear, but is always the one that drops out.... literally no issues for around a year until this recent update.... doorbell camera is fine, but must note a newer generation compared to floodlight camera.

@Ash_88 Look at the ring info RSSI at 70 is just not good.

Understanding wifi recommendations for Ring devices

Yes, my rear camera has poor connection (previously the connection RSSI-61) but is still functional... my front camera is completely disconnected and doesn't connect to the smart hub at all despite working fine for the last year.

@Ash_88 I have both my Ring doorbell and the Ring camera working down at -40 to 42db once they get to the 60's i can forget it operational wise, if you wish to go down the FW update oops again your choice, EE CS and give them a call, two versions off the EE 7 now, a Plus or a Pro, and FW updates i will link below so you see the timescales.

Smart Hub 7 Plus FW: r5.21.1-R-2045935-PROD-84001 and the gui is at App Version 3.17.5 15/10/2026

Smart Hub 7 Pro FW: r5.16.1-R-2011329-PROD-1 and the gui is at App Version 3.17.5 20/08/2026

Connect your devices using Compatible WiFi | Broadband Help | EE

@Ash_88 You should if not already done so, set up the Compatible wifi, 2.4Ghz band and set it for WPA2-Personal wireless securities and attach both devices to that band, then check the RSSI again, actually do the doorbell as well Ring will be happy, RSSI really wants to be as linked Ring info above.

My front camera (one that is always disconnecting) is already on my compatible WiFi and when I reboot my hub the connection is good (RSSI-57). I had to connect front camera to compatible back in June to fix the same issue I'm getting now... this was also a firmware issue from back then.

My rear camera is not on the compatible WiFi,  the signal is worse (RSSI-70) like I said before, but it never fully disconnects unlike my front camera, plus I can still access the live view from the rear camera.

The doorbell is also on my standard WiFi and has good connectivity also (RSSI-52)

@Ash_88 Return the front camera back on the main wifi again and see if it holds the connection there.

@Ash_88 , You may also need an extender to get a better connection, but I would definitely go and  try the connectivity on 2.4 GHz, that should work, that is what I have with my ring doorbell, but also have an extender, as I have two doors to the outside, with an extender.
