Yesterday I upgraded my fibre broadband from 500mb to 900mb. Since doing so I now have a EE public WiFi hotspot that anyone can use. My next door neighbour is now piggy backing off my router. It’s ridiculous. When I was on the 500mb speed there was an option in Hub Manager to turn off this public hotspot and I did it. But now im on 900mb speeds there is no option to turn off the public hotspot.
I’ve spoken to 4 different EE staff on the phone and no one knows how to turn it off. I’ve even been told no on can connect to it, which is absolutely not true because my neighbour just told me he’s connected, this also means anyone can connect to MY hub. I don’t want this. I want my internet to be for my household only.
can anyone out there help? I’ve hit a brick wall with this

Hello @UE5000 ,
Welcome to the community,
You need to make sure that your broadband has a password so that no one can use your wifi, make sure that it is not public but private, you need to make sure that it shows as locked and only people with the password can use it, it looks like you may have to change your password to something more complicated and make sure that it is set to private.

@UE5000 You will have to go look at the opt out off the EE WiFi to get rid off it on your EE Router, has been on it for months now depending on what you have and there is just NO way you can stop anyone from doing so! It's got nothing to do with FF500 or FF900 speeds to the EE Router!

There is no way ever to turn off the EE WiFi SSID from an EE router itself. Did you have a BT router when you had the 500 Meg plan? You need to turn it off from your EE a/c.
In your online EE a/c under Manage > Plans & Subs > Manage broadband > EE WiFi (at bottom) > Learn more about EE WiFi :
Opt Out & then Opt In again.
This may only be a temporary workaround as it relies on what I believe is a glitch. Opting in again should make the EE WiFi SSID broadcast from your router but currently it doesn't.

No I’ve always had a EE hub.
2 days ago, via hub manager I could turn off public hotspot. Today since upgrade I can’t turn it off.
so are you saying I’m now stuck with a public access point to my hub no matter what?

That sounds crazy. Could you explain for me…How does opting out of EE WiFi affect the public hotspot coming from my router?

Thanks, yeah it’s set to private. That’s not the issue here. The issue is I now have a public access hotspot coming from my router that I don’t want.

@UE5000 There are a few EE WiFi / EE Router ref's on the Forum, EE enabled the public wifi going to say back in June 2025 to ALL the EE Supplied Routers via a FW update, some never had it and the debacle is now get it off the EE Router and that is proving in some cases to be a nightmare, the Opt out leave it a couple day's then see the Router has stopped the signal local on your Router, it is said that when/if it does so, opting back in leaves the Router off. It's all up to you to do it, have a search on the Forum!

No, you can turn it off the way I said via your EE a/c. I turned it off of my SH+ that way & it's still off.

The public hotspot on your router is EE WiFi!
