Openreach installing FTTC when FTTP is available

Hi

I've not gotten round to updating my copper broadband for family health reasons but had Openreach email saying they coming round to update digital phone & putting me on core 67 which is FTTC even though full fibre is on my street. I will receive my smart hub plus & phone adaptor shortly.  

They say i have a fortnight to change mind, not sure what that means as won't be going back to copper but just wondered if FTTC will still work ok after the switch off in January?  I guess they wouldn't be doing it if it didn't. i Should've just ordered FTTP but as said i haven't . I guess i'll get this done & upgrade after.. I didn't think if FF was available on my street they would do FTTC.

No the pc is upstairs on a back bedroom and the phone socket is downstairs in the front room..

p.s this is reason there's 2 micro filters because when it comes upstairs it looks like this  so need to attach a filter so it all fits. Is this ok

Where's 2 microfilters? What are those boxes?

What's to the L of that image & what's to the R?

What are the 4 plugs that go into those 2 boxes? See below:

@gazmix_1973 As you are doing the transition from your older ADSL to a newer and Faster VDSL your wiring as it is stays exactly the same, the EE Smart Hub 6+ connects on the RJ11 cable upstairs via your filter into the RJ11 connection on the EE Hub, think it is marked as DSL if i remember correctly, the double splitter you have down stairs and the Filter with the Landline Phone on it you can remove so the ONLY connection to the Master OR Phone socket will be the one that heads upstairs to the EE Hub connection. Your phone will plug into the DVA downstairs once you pair the DVA to the Hub in the DECT frequency range. Will Link that so watch the video to see how it is done.

Just let the EE Hub do it's thing when connected FW updates wise so you may get a reboot to that etc, keep the old hub on powered up but NOT connected anymore to the phone line, if you are doing all this with the App if you ever get it to work it will copy over your old ssid/password to the New EE Hub and 90% off your wireless devices may be happy and just reconnect as before. Those that don't may just need a power cycle to connect.

Only downside is the Telephone Extension cable from Upstairs to Downstairs, you might get a little speed hit only because off the possible cable/length in use..... Watch the video it explains the DVA adapter and corded type phone what to do.

Edit:- When you go FF Full Fibre if all is to be staying like it is, then would advise an Ethernet Cable off the length needed replaces that cable for the Downstairs to Upstairs.

@gazmix_1973 As a separate, just not sure what cables will be in the supplied EE 6+ box, if there is a RJ11 to standard Telephone connection would be the same length as the Rj11 to Rj11 also if in the box, then you can do away with the ADSL filter upstairs, it's only there because off the connection cables, nothing else....

@XRaySpeX the front room pic is a splitter I think, one goes to the phone and other to the router upstairs, the other pic is where the cable comes through the floorboards, goes through filter then in to the router.

@JimM11  I guess the engineer will be here to help as he will be doing the digital phone adapter. Could I try the new smart hub plus now and see if it works even though fttc is activated Wednesday. .. p.s I don't get what you mean about the old router.

In the box there is the power plug, a black broadband cable and an ADSL filter

@gazmix_1973 I personally would not try it as your old EE Router what ever one you have may not have the same username/password applied so you may just have a connection issue getting on the ADSL back to EE, the Router/Hubs do work connection wise same way but am not familiar with any of the old EE Routers etc AND you will not be able to change anything on that new EE Smart Hub 6+ version.

The Engineer that arrives is NOT there to connect everything up and ensure it is all working, if he does so then that is His/Her own personal help but NOT policy (OR or Contractor), generally one device on make sure the Internet is on working and then leaves you to sort the rest out. If you have an EE Guide assisted installation then different story for getting anything or all working.

Would power the NEW EE hub up though, sit it somewhere downstairs, you will get the NON connect but at least you are burning the sucker in, most Electronic failures are within the First week of power up.

@XRaySpeX will be more familiar with the older gear, user/password's etc, so if he say's your good to go then that's ok by me.  A Hub swapover is just that, EVERYTHING has to stay as is wired wise until OR swaps you over connection wise in the street cabinet....

From above you black broadband cable in the box, is it just the same as your current Grey one with the RJ11 connector on both sides?
