One BT mini disc is working and one is not - with new EE hub

Hello, I have a conundrum that I cannot work out and EE won't help me because I am not paying for the 'whole home' service. Basically I have two white BT mini discs that act as wifi extenders, each one was attached to my BT Smart Hub with ethernet cables.  Now I have switched to EE Full Fibre with a new EE hub, one of the discs is working very happily without any configuration changes or resetting. The other one won't connect and the light after flashing blue for a while turns red.

I have tried factory reset, I have tried swapping the discs over (they both work on the other Upstairs connection and both don't work on the Kitchen connection), I have bought a line tester which confirms that the ethernet cable running through the wall is working. Why is there a problem??? So frustrating. Please can anyone advise?

I read online that the white BT discs work with any brand of hub and the fact that one is working in one location confirms this.

Thank you in advance for any solutions.

@vevaw   does it work if you use a shorter known good quality cable?

Or tried a different port on the router?

From what you have said the cable to the kitchen either has a fault or is not a good enough spec to work with the extender/router combination.

That said, if you still have the BT router yu could use that, and let BT/EE that you want to keep it.

@vevaw See if the BT link to the devices is of any help. If you have a look on the web manager http://192.168.1.254 you should be able to see both the Home wi-fi units attached to the My Network one on each port of the Ethernet section with the MAC address so you know which is which, bit of faffing about but the only way to do it, and if you think it is a port issue were it is not showing up then plug another NIC device like a laptop into that cable and see if it shows up, no lights on the EE router NIC port to help if connections are good, so down to see what is happening with the web manager.

Allow the EE Router Ethernet port about 30 seconds to establish the connection, its a little oops with the port FW or the way EE have decided that is how they want it to work.
