ONT RJ45 negotiated at 1Gbps only - on the 1.6 Gbps package

Just had my fibre installed today, and on the busiest household package the 1.6 Gbps.  When connected to the Smart Plus Hub, it says WAN 1000Mbits when it should have said 2.5Gbps.

I then connected the ethernet from the ONT directly onto my 3rd party router, which is the ER707-M2 by Omada which is a multi gig router (2 x 2.5 Gbps ports), added the PPOE creds and it was working.  Again the ethernet port negotiated/handshaked at 1Gbit.

This is telling me that the ONT has been set to 1Gbit and therefore negotiated at 1Gbit on all the routers I've tested.  I have also connected an ethernet cable directly from the ONT to my desktop and set up a PPOE connection then, that also says 1Gbit.

This is the ONT that's been installed, and after looking online it's a ADTRAN ONT with 2.5Gbps port.

ONT that's installed (looks like the ADTRAN one)

My 3rd party router:

ONT is connected to Port 1 of the 2 x 2.5Gb ports and desktop is connected to Port 2 of the 2 x 2.5 Gb ports.

Any ideas guys?

OpenReach came and changed the ONT to the 2.5Gb one and now it's flying at 1.6 Gbps.

Wired Speed test:

(In task manager it was reporting at 1.8Gbps, so I'm guessing this is the 1.8Gbps service, removing the overhead buffer gets us to 1.6Gbps)

Wi-fi speed test (using my own equipment)

I'm currently on Omada ecosystem with the router ER707-M2 with 2.5Gb ports.  I also have a PCIE 2.5Gb network card in my PC, but only receiving 1Gbps download.  Is it something EE needs to change on the backend to change it to 1.6Gbps?

Looks like you've only got a 1 Gig ONT. If it were the Adtran, what are its dimensions?

I can't really measure it as I don't have a measuring tape.  And I can't access the back of it and it's stuck to the wall.  Is there a way to remove the ONT from the wall to check the back of it?

You could print out a ruler on A4 paper.

You don't need to remove ONT from wall to measure it. All 3 dimensions are accessible.

Look for the reset pin hole between the power connector and the ethernet port, if it's not there you have a 1Gb unit. Curious how you get on with the Omada when you get it working too

The reset pin hole is on the side.

Omada is working great.  No issues there albeit capped at 1Gbit.
