Non password connection showing up.

Hi,

     I've recently joined EE and everything so far is going well. Today I was manually connecting my phone to my network when I noticed in the list of available networks there was one for EE Wifi (No padlock next to it). When I clicked on it it took me to an EE page to sign in. I did this and it connected straight away. As it had no padlock and looked unsecure I went into the Admin page for the router to see if I could find it there and secure it. I couldn't see anything that jumped out as being for that particular network. Should I be concerned that part of my wifi is unsecure, or is this something different? My last network provider didn't have anything like this show up. If it helps I also have an EE Mobile too.

It's the public EE WiFi network. It may be broadcast by your router unless you opt out of it. You can't make it any more secure. You may use it when out and about while opted in to it.

Thanks for the info. I wasn't aware of this when I signed up. How do I go about opting out of it?

@The-Observer777 Takes a few hours or a couple off day's for the EE WiFi to disappear from your hub transmitting.

Did you happen to see if the other new one just released is the same, it would be the EE WiFi-Auto, but it may just be hidden out off view so you cannot see it.

No the auto one isn't showing up. Seems a bit sneaky if they hide it so you can't see it.

@The-Observer777 That's correct eventually will find a neighbour on an EE connection, most here are BT, but as soon as i do will take a look see if it's a hidden ssid, suspect that it is. It's just another new one slated with the latest FW release if it's working who knows. Been one posted so far complaining about it walking past homes and his mobile jumping onto the Auto specially way to set it up mobile wise but if so just another Free suck away your bandwidth courtesy FREE EE wifi. There is already a number off hidden ssid's on the EE Hub, so why not add a few more, bottom link will show you.
