No caller id on homephone extension

Hi, since going onto the new digital home phone (which goes into the back of the router) my extension upstairs doesn't show any caller id which isn't very good as we get lots of scam calls. The phone downstairs which is plugged into the back of the router does still show who's calling. Oh I have also forgotten to mention that the extension upstairs is plugged into a EE adapter. Is there anyway around this and getting the id back?

Thanks

Chris.

Yes that is correct,  both phones downstairs have not not upstairs.

I will try pairing the adapter again I presume just by unplugging it?

What router do you have? Usually you login to the router via a browser, enter 192,168.1.254, and click on you telephone no. You should be able to remove the adaptor from there.

Just reread your last post just to confirm does this “both phones downstairs have not not upstairs.” mean that both phones don’t ring upstairs?

if yes do you have a spare ADSL filter, that use to plug into the master socket to split phone and broadband. Plug this into the adaptor and the plug the phone into the filter.

Both phones ring up and downstairs but when downstairs  both phones have caller id but both phones when upstairs don't  have  caller id it just says Call.

And yes I do have a new adsl filter plugged into my ee adapter with my phone cable plugged into that.

Does the phones ring without the filter?

Yes, both do.

Does Caller ID work without the filter?

Only downstairs on both phones.

I’ve not seen this Caller ID problem mentioned here or on the BT community, the usual one is that the phone won’t ring and using the filter on the adaptor allows the phone to ring.

Have you tried the re pairing the adapter to the router?

I’d call customer services and see if they will send a replacement adapter to see if the first is faulty.

I've just re paired the adapter but the same thing happens.

I give up but the most frustrating thing is i just had to answer the  phone which turned out to be a scam call which woke me up as I didn't know who is was calling.
