New to full fibre

I had the full fibre hardware installed today but it is connected to my original BT hub ( I wasn’t sent a new EE router) , should it be working because at present, it isn’t! ( the hub is constantly flashing purple) . The engineer said wait 4 hrs, I’m not confident as the router is a few yrs old and may not be set up for full fibre. Any advice?

@Lenscapov    what is the router model and what fibre service have to moved to?

If it is the BT Smart Hub 2 then you should be fine.

Have you disconnected the cable that went to your Master Socket?

Have EE told you the service is live yet? It can take up to midnight on the day of activation, although often much sooner.

Yes it should work fine if it's the SmartHub 2 and  PROVIDING that the ethernet cable is connected to port 4 , then to the new ONT box and that the Full Fibre setting within the SH2 is set.

The engineer should have made sure it all worked before he left as mine did.

@Lenscapov The last reported FW update to the BT Smarthub2 routers was April 2025 onwards, and a change was for auto port 4 FF connection instead off having to go manually set it up, so if the hub has been updated good chance it is already there, but web manager to it you will see where it is at, http://192.168.1.254 should let you see where it's at. Link below should take you to all the BT pages.
