Hello all,
Just checking whether I am doing something bizarre?
I have ethernet to each point of the house, previously I had the ethernet into a unmanaged switch, and one of those ethernet connections would go to the previous BT wifi etenders.
I have upgraded to the wifi 7 package, and the extenders have two ethernet ports. Therefore, I thought it would be ideal for the ethernet to connect to port 1, and then use the second ethernet port into my switch, or in the other room, into the second device directly.
Doing this caps the ethernet to 300 mb on the connected devices via ethernet port 2 - which is extremely strange - the wifi is around 500 mb or so, but a device directly connected to that extender caps out at 300 mb.
I then switched the ethernet back to the switch first, then a cable off the switch into the extender and then the switch ethernet is back to 1 gb no issue, with wifi around 700 mb. Just to note, this isnt a switch issue, if i connect directly to the wifi extender, and then the second port directly into a computer, that will cap at 300 mb vs 1 gb via the switch first.
Surely this isnt correct? This happens with all 3 of the extenders, I just cant fathom why this would be the case? Of course I can just revert to the ethernet into the switch first, then one ethernet into the wifi extenders, but I now have questions on the quality of this product and I am considering returning whilst I have the cooling off period.
TLDR: If directly connecting to the extender via ethernet, and using the second ethernet port to further share, the wifi caps at 500 and the lan on port 2, to 300mb max. If ethernet goes to switch first, then wifi 700+ and the switch can serve 1 gb lan.
Very interested in others thoughts.

@Ryan0508 Hard to work out your wiring schedule so when i get some time will draw it out, Ideal cabling EE router Lan ports are all 2.5Gb/s, port 1 of EE Pro to Extender Port, Port 2 of EE Pro to Extender Port, and Port 3 of EE Pro to Extender Port, will keep the extender's backhaul at max speed, If you have a 2.5Gb/s Nic you could test each cable back to the router and should be full speed. Will look at the rest later.
