Hi 😊 I had the 900/110 broadband package installed today and it’s performing very poorly. The speed varies wildly between 35-380 download and 9-90 upload . One of my devices is connected directly to the router and the best I could get from that was 90/50 .
I’ve read that this package doesn’t take time to settle so ….. am I stuck with it ? ☹️ Can anyone help ?
Many thanks in advance

@VWhiteaide I have seen the BTW speed test produce odd reults with some browsers, so I would take the 1850 with a pinch of salt. So yes, at this stage I would say an engineers would be a waste of time, and possibly money. Try other browsers, and speed tests. speedtest.net works for me.
Re the second question, again a bit misleading - you may not get 900Mbps all of the time, but should expect to get close to it providing you have a fast enough machine, and nothing else is using the internet at the same time. We have seen people reporting 450Mbps over Wi-Fi, again machine and distance dependant.

Yes , today I’m going to use their cable as EE suggested and see what results I get. If the speeds are low ( as I fear they will be ) what options are there ? Apart from an engineer who will run the BT Wholesale and declare it excellent 🙁
I’ve just finished my first morning of teaching online since moving to 900mbs and had more freezes than I ever had on my 67mbs package , it’s so frustrating.

No, he shouldn't or at least not only that. He should be measuring your actual sync speed from the cab.

Ahh well that’s good to know 😊
i plugged my laptop into the router today and managed to get a maximum of 552DL and 48UL ( but not consistently) … I can’t decide whether to bother getting them in , reading this forum it seems that an engineer visit rarely results in a fix . Sigh .

Hi 😊 I’m intrigued by your dell inspiron card speeds … so it runs faster on wireless ? How interesting! I didn’t know that wireless could run faster than wired !
I guess that’s what you meant re checking my Wi-Fi speeds 😁
I haven’t done that yet but on my Inspiron 3973 I can’t get more than 90DL wired or wireless….
I hate this stuff ! 🤣

@VWhiteaide : That would only happen with an older PC with only a 100 Kbps LAN. Modern PCs tend to have Megabit / sec LANs.

@XRaySpeX no cabinets involved, on this one.
@VWhiteaide Slightly confusing with two threads on the same subject,
HoweverI am just wondering what if anything you have running when you do this testing, and if you have tried other cables.
Also, have you managed to log into the router, checked the firmware level, and if your WAN connection speed is 1Gbps?

@XRaySpeX According to the specs it is indeed a 10/100 👎🏿 It’s a dell Inspiron 3793 and I found my order receipt, I bought in on June 3rd 2020 for £829.95
I’m presuming I’m reading the specs correctly?

@VWhiteaide that would explain a lot! From experience I am aware Dell build machines to a cost, often putting a slower component into a device to save a few quid, but it does surprice me they only used a 10/100 network card.
If you go to the Control Panel and Network and Internet you should be able to find more info about the card they have used, including speeds.

@Mustrum yes, I’m surprised too ☹️ It wasn’t something I thought to check at the time when I bought it but I did presume it would be up to the job . It’s not the most expensive machine in the world but still …
I’ve checked the specs in control panel and it confirms 100mbs.
I connected my MacBook up and it’s a lot better but still a long way off what it should be.
