Moving House with a gap in between

Hi everyone,

I am 1 year into a 2 years EE broadband contract and I am in the process of purchasing a new house (bringing over the EE contract).

When I leave my current place, I will need to move into a temporary accomodation for a month or two while I complete the purchase.

Is it possible to suspend the broadband contract for that time without incurring in early termination fees? Even if it means  paying the unused months?

Thank you

Adriana

@Adri8   you would need to give customer services a call and ask about the home move service.

The key to your issue, will be how long you are in the temporary accommodation, they will not allow a unlimited time, but should give you an idea of how long, and more so if you have a known address you are going to move to.

I don’t think so but best to confirm from customer support.

No, you would need a place for EE to be supplying BB to. Once you leave your current home the new occupants are almost certain to order BB from some ISP which will take over your existing line & thus auto cancel your contract with EE with consequential early exit fees.

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

I'm in the same position with a two month gap to new house. Happy to keep on paying  EE but customer service agent says the  contract will end and I will be subject to a large penalty for the rest of the contract.

Amazed that there isn't some provision for this situation. Will have to review my options when I move as EE does not reward loyalty apparently.

@Adrianmack You can always leave the internet and give it free to the new occupiers on the understanding that when you move finally, you need to get all the kit from them and start the home move process.

@Adrianmack   do you have a known address you will be moving to? If so you should be able to asj CS to do a home move.

It is when you don't have a known address to go to it becomes more difficult. Worth giving CS another call.

Hey,

I am going to save you some time as I have now gone through the whole process 🙂

If you call EE and explain the situation (not the store, you need to call) they will be able to stop the connection at your old place and you will need to give them a starting date for the new address. I didn't pay for the months I have not used.

They can then only move this chosen date to the future. I had to call again because my new house completion date had been delayed and I was able to change the connection date.

If you have any contact with the current occupiers maybe better to shoot them a message, as soon as you call EE they will likely receive a message from their provider to say you are taking over from xxx date.
