I cannot log in to my email account as the password has been changed without my knowledge. I cannot reset it either I think the problem arose from some fraudulent activity on my credit card. My email is with BT and my provider is EE. would appreciate any advise

@Saralee21 one of my relations had a similar problem recently. Have a look their Help pages https://www.bt.com/help/email

EE has no truck with your BT email a/c or its pwd. You need to take it up with BT.
