IPv6 arrives on an EE FTTC connection

Seems my FTTC service switched on IPv6 quite recently: just checked tonight.

Router is a Smart Hub (not sure what vintage) firmware v0.09.01.09281-EE updated 7/12/2023

Making sure router uses SLAAC address allocation ("stateless") allows every device, Windows, Mac and Android, to get an IPv6 address.

On the machines themselves, I've switched DNS to the Google public servers, both for IPv4 and IPv6.

test-ipv6.com reports "10/10", with ISP as BT-US-AS BTnet UK Regional Network.

So, no more need to use the Hurricane Electric tunnelbroker service, and all the Google 'captchas' it forced upon me.

That's your local LAN IPs but if you're on a legacy BB plan externally it's still using IPv4.

Which EE BB plan are you on including its speed? What EE router do you have (read its label)?

Thank you for replying. This is an 80MB incoming, 20MB outgoing FTTC service. I can't get to the router because I run the Internet for a number of premises, including my flat, and I can't access the incoming line at night.

Yes, it looks like it's IPv6.

Do you know the actual name of your EE BB plan?

@Worried_of_Kent   plugged my Smart Hub back in this morning and I too now have IP6.

My IP Address is:

IPv6: ? 2a00:23c5:849b:5f01:701e:b76f:4xxxxxx

IPv4: ? 86.176.187.xx

I believe this has been in BT Groups plans since at least the beginning of the year, so good to see it working.

Now to figure out the settings for my own router!

And for anyone else using their own router, not surpringly the settings are the same as BT.

This may help anyone with an Asus router - https://uktechhub.com/forums/topic/asus-router-ipv6-settings-page-bt-uk/
