Do ethernet cable devices show up on wifi?

Hi allI've looked at my childrens devices that have connected to the hub. One's devices say wifi 5gh and other child's chromebook says ethernet cable? The laptop is in her room and router downstairs so how is it connected by ethernet?  Many thanks
