IP address

Hello,

Hopefully someone can help me with this enquiry.

I recently moved from EE 4G Broadband to EE Fibre.   My 4G router had an IP of 192.168.1.1/24 which allows me to see my CCTV cameras.   With the new Fibre Modem, it has an IP address of 192.168.1.254 and whilst I have full internet connectivity I cannot see the cameras.

I’ve been into the setup and changed the IP to 192.168.1.1 but with no luck, can anyone provide a solution?   It has to be something simple!

Thank you.

Allan

Both have the same IP range, 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.254, but could have diff DHCP ranges. Are you fixing the IPs of your cameras?

Hi @Sarge_911    where and how have you done this, and what are you using to see the camera's?

On some routers the first  63 numbers are reserved, so this may be the issue.

Hello,

Currently using a Draytek 4G router; the cameras go into a NVR which is connected to a Nighthawk Router then by cable to the Draytek which is connected to the internet.   It has an IP of 192.168.1.1 and I have a camera connection.   If I swap the cable to the new router, the cameras are no longer visible on the internet.   If I change the IP of the new router from 192.168.1.254 to 192.168.1.1 I just can’t get a connection.

Thank you.

@Sarge_911 Did you (Set or fix) the IP on the NVR when you set it up? Or is the NVR getting it's IP from the EE Router DHCP server. What model of EE Router do you have?

@Sarge_911    changing the IP address on the router only changes how you get to the managment pages, and has nothing to do with accessing the cameras or DVR.

Which camera's and DVR, and as before how and what do you use to access them? It is likley that you will need to change the gateway address on the FVR, not the router.

Hi

If you have a Draytek router then it is possible to give the NVR a fixed IP address. To be able to do this you will need the Mac address of the NVR, which will hopefully be on the label at the back, if not then you can temporarily turn of the Wi-Fi and just leave a PC plugged into the router and the NVR.

The Draytek will show Mac codes of items connected , as below. Simply give the NVR a fixed IP address and that should work. There is a but here though , you appear to be using 2 routers ?, you will have double NAT issues and if that is the case  this could be the biggest issue

If the Draytek is feeding the Nighthawk router then the Draytek should have its DHCP server turned off, to avoid double NAT. The Nighthawk will be doing all the routing.
