Hub settings for Xbox remote play

Apologies if this has been asked before (couldn't find an answer), or if it is in the wrong forum.

I am unable to connect to my Xbox remotely, and the problem appears to be with the EE fibre hub. I have another router which when in use, I can connect fine on other WiFi networks or on mobile (EE). But when I'm using the EE Hub, I can only connect on my home WiFi. The Xbox passes all of its checks, but when I try the Xbox app it either presents a disconnection error or an error that the app can find the console but can't connect.

Thanks

@LiamH42   which router and EE broadband service do you have?

And what model router that does work?

It may be that on certain EE routers (you have not said which) uPnP does not appear to work. On other routers it does,

uPnP will populate the necessary Port Forwarding rules. You may need to do them manually as per xBox requirements.

I've got EE Fibre 500 and Smart Hub SH31B. I've checked and UpNp is enabled. The router that does work is a TP-Link Archer VR2800. I have in the past messed around with port forwarding on that router (the Archer), but I'm pretty sure I reset to factory when I got EE fibre. I could be wrong though.

Yes, uPnP is enabled by default but many report it don't work.

@LiamH42   There have been other reports about the Smart Hub plus and uPnP not working. Unless you also have Digital Voice were it me I would use the TP Link.

I would definitely prefer to but I think it might be starting to have issues, it's several years old. I'm trying the hub to see if the issues I am having (not related to this) are resolved.

I would have thought if the UpNp wasn't working, then when I check the network status on the Xbox it would say so?

@LiamH42   you could look on the TP Link to see what port forward settings have been made by uPnP and replicate them on the Smart Hub.

Alternatively a search on google should help with the settings.

Thinking about it now I'm 100% that port forwarding isn't setup on the TPLink because I haven't set a static IP for the Xbox anymore.
