Hello.
Is there a consensus for how best to use Google Nest WiFi (or other third party mesh systems) with the EE router that comes with gigabit full fibre?
Is it possible to plug the Google Nest router directly into the openreach ONT?
Thanks!

I believe that the FTTP ONT box *is* a modem.

@fuzzyJJ yes you are right, the ONT is a modem.
Can the Nest be set up in PPOE mode? If so then you should be able to connect it to the ONT.

That's brilliant, thanks. Is there a standard EE password to connect to the ONT (as there is for BT for example)?

No, everyone has their own username and password. You can ring CS for yours.
Or after reading the following, log into your router, take a note of the username and work out the password.

Hi @fuzzyJJ
If you intend to invest in that network then buy yourself a decent router first rather than using the free one provided.
That should be your first step.
Thanks

@Northerner : If you are plugging the Nest straight into the ONT you wouldn't be using the free ISP-supplied router at all.
To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband or Option 2 for Home Broadband & Home Phone
ISPs: 1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up > 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB > 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB > 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU > 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU > 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC > 2014: EE 20 Meg WBC > 2020: EE 40 Meg FTTC > 2022:EE 80 Meg FTTC SoGEA > 2025 EE 150 Meg FTTP

Apologies, I was meaning if the OP is looking for a solution becase their WiFi is poor then try a better router than the free one, rather than investing money in an old WiFi network system.
I also believe that this isn't WiFi 6 ax. If you're investing in a mesh network for long term use then you need the most recent technology not old Google stuff especially if you are using streaming media or teams/zoom when working at home on many devices.
Thanks

Thanks. The Nest WiFi system is something I'm currently using with Virgin Media and hoping to continue using with EE.
