So this may be a silly question, but I am on the Full FIbre Gigabit plan with EE (900 Mbps) and the router is in my "gaming room". For whatever reason every time I turn on my computer to play a game my wife can't watch anything on our TV, 'cause the signal will just drop. I have tried to use a WiFi extender, then a WiFi Mesh system, nothing improved it (the TV connects to those, but the signal is still too weak or non-existent). Thing is, I was with Plusnet before I joined EE (for more than 4 years) on their 70 Mbps plan and had no such issues. Their WiFi could reach every room without any issues and I could game to my heart's content whilst she was watching movies. Is there anything I can do to allow my wife to watch TV when I'm gaming? Because she's really unhappy with the situation and I'm kind of starting to regret switching to EE at this point.

@Inq Which router do you have from EE, and how is your PC connected to this router. As this is all a new plan when did you change over from the fttc to the fttp product. Can you manage to speed test PC/Router when connected. When you are gamming does everything seem fine with your connection?

Hi Jim, thanks for your reply, SmartHub SH31B is on the bottom of the router. The PC is connected via a cable, I switched to EE about 3 months ago (and the TV problems started right away), I can test the speed and it's fine (900Mbps+). On my PC. There are no issues with my gaming, everything runs fine, but, again, only on my PC. But I must stress this point - with Plusnet and their way inferior broadband I had no such issues at all. Everything ran perfectly fine. I would have stayed with Plusnet, but wanted to improve the download speeds (and they don't offer anything faster than 70 Mbps), so I switched to EE. And so far it looks like a big mistake.

@Inq The speed is what would be expected on the ethernet. Is you PC windows and if so can you look at the resource monitor, there is a network tab which shows the network activity. Take it you have nothing else connected on the ethernet currently apart from your PC. If you have a mobile, are you android or ios user, trying to find out if this is a bandwidth issue, because your Ethernet is taking everything away from the router, so that the wireless wi-fi cannot compete...

@Inq I would buy a 3rd party router mesh system. When I was with EE I had the same issues as you. But went with the TP Link BE65 WiFi 7 mesh system. It's night and day compared to the supplied EE router etc. I have a wired back haul, the WiFi speeds in our 3 bed room house are fantastic now.

@Inq It is looking like it is all about your router, when with plusnet which router did you have, you can see by checking there site, there latest was the hub2 which is based on the BT Smarthub2, it is a pretty good router especially in terms of the wireless wi-fi signal strength, the EE Smarthub+ that you now have is not apples - apples, there are a few options that you could try to set on the EE router, the concern i saw from your post was that you had tried both options of Booster + Mesh with no improvement, now both of these options can also lead to problems for various reasons. Wi-Fi can be a difficult to get sorted. @TuckerUK solution is excellent, wired backhaul is 100% way to go, that is were the speed comes from but it can/is not an easy fix as running ethernet cables from each device to the router is involved. Also if you still have the plusnet router because it was BT based, couple of changes to it and could possibly be used again on the EE system. HTH
