If you are expecting 900mb on a wireless connection you will be sorely disappointed. Most wireless devices currently popular can't support it.

What device are you using to test and how is it connected? An Xbox, depends on which one you have. The Xbox series X/S can do about 850 but that will be a wired connection.

Welcome to EE's Home Broadband Forum.

If you would like help with your BB speed or connection issues, please would you carry out the following steps for starters, which will enable us to diagnose the problem and advise you further.

1. What are all EE's estimated speeds which you'll find in your MyEE for BB under Your broadband speed?

2. Try a wired speedtest, using an Ethernet cable supplied with the router, here http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest.html . Click on the "Results Page" button at the bottom of the graph you first see and then copy to here just the "Link to this result:" link that you see below the next main graph.

3. What does BT Wholesale Broadband Availability Checker estimate for your phone number? Post just the whole table and the line above it, blanking out your phone number. If it doesn't recognise your phone number or you don't have one, use the Address Checker, not the Postcode Checker.

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

This is also running The SamKnows Whitebox is a dedicated device for measuring your internet performance.

It’s ideal for IT professionals, advocates of better internet and users who want assurance about their internet service.

The latest version, Whitebox 8.0, is capable of measuring fixed-line broadband connections of up to 1Gbps.

The Whitebox measures a wide range of network and application-specific properties, including download speed, upload speed, video streaming, online gaming stability, latency, and packet loss, to name just a few.

The Whitebox does not directly improve your internet. It provides you with the data to help you improve your internet performance.

The Whitebox is...

  • capable of highly accurate internet performance tests available.
  • a trusted measurement unit that you can use to track your home internet performance, so you can be confident that you are getting the service you expect.
  • part of SamKnows’ specially developed Test Kit, which is used by internet service providers and government regulators, and includes ConnectedHome and the SamKnows mobile app.

The Whitebox is NOT...

  • a way to improve your internet speed or performance by itself.
  • a replacement for your router and/or modem.
  • a replacement for any other Wi-Fi access points in your home.
  • a smart meter for energy and gas usage.

Technology and metrics

Cardiffjamesh_0-1675923596856.jpeg

The Whitebox stays in one place and only runs regular tests when you are not using the internet. This reduces the window for variables and other external factors that can influence the metrics. Thanks to this diligent testing method, the Whitebox will give you more consistent data about your home broadband performance over time.

All metrics and data gathered by your Whitebox can be viewed on your ConnectedHome dashboard.

To find out more about how to interpret the data your Whitebox gathers, have a look at the Understanding your data section.

You can read more about the technology inside the Whitebox, and projects it is being used for, on the SamKnows Megablog.

Yes, I know it well. The URL would've been sufficient rather than a cut & paste job that does not have much bearing on the issue.
