First boot up of the EE Smart Hub Plus

Hello all,

I made a post a week or so ago about migrating from the BT SH2 to the EE SH+, this new hub arrived today - it was told over the phone at the time of ordering last week that it would be a simple plug and play, minimal setup.

I wanted to switch the SSID to match that of our old router so that I wouldn't have to manually change over all of our connected devices to the new details, unfortunately I don't have access to the app (long story) as I know there is an automated function for this - so I figured that I would have to do it through the routers admin panel, fine no issues there as I've tinkered with the old one plenty.

I plug the new hub in and connect to it - internet works fine and speed test shows improved speeds. I attempt to go to the IP of the new hub to access the admin panel and am met with this screen "http://192.168.1.xxx/AppInitScreen" and it's the EE logo with a loading graphic spinning - that's fine, I do a little searching and it's likely that the initial boot will be downloading firmware or whatever, I give it 15 minutes and it's still going. I give it 30 minutes and it's still going...then the connection randomly drops out and the light begins to flash orange...I figure maybe it's rebooting after completing...it then reconnects and the light is blue...I am able to connect again however I am still stuck on the above page when trying to access the admin panel - it's just spinning and spinning despite multiple refreshes.

Sorry for the verbose post, any idea what's going on here? Is this normal and it just takes a while? It's been over an hour now, which feels...unlikely. If there's anything I can do to troubleshoot/access the admin panel then I'd love to know.

Cheers, look forward to the responses!

@Mellman If you have the old router off you should have no issues, http://192.168.1.254 will open up the web page, as long as you have a wireless connection and are connected the the correct ssid. Failing so just connect an Ethernet cable to the Router and your pc.

Access is instant no waiting for ever....

Thanks for the response Jim - very strange, if I hook my laptop up to the router I get the Hub Manager instantly - as you say, however if I try and access it from any device that is connected remotely then I get the issue mentioned in my original post still - hoping it resolves itself because it's impractical to have to stand in the tiny cupboard downstairs balancing my laptop everytime I need to access the settings..ha

@Mellman Best advise, use the laptop and setup the compatible network on the router, set ONE device to connect on that ssid, and then try web manager to the router, not everything is going to hit the EE Smarthub+. Its just a pity that you did not set the EE offline with all its required setting's before, so who knows what the router and the devices are all confused with each other now....

All devices are connecting fine to it - that I have verified. The outstanding issue remains that my desktop PC (Which is connected fine) is unable to access the admin panel via Chrome normal browser, however, I can access it via an incognito session on the exact same machine. So to try and rectify it on the main browser I've done:

ipconfig /flushdns
netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset
cleared Chrome's internal caches of all kinds

I can even access it through Firefox - so I'm stumped because doing all of the above steps has still not resolved it, it immediately defaults to the AppInitScreen.
