Hi

Do EE still do this as when i try to search Broadband deals it just gives me Full Fibre broadband deals. I only do basic online stuff so don't really need Full fibre & FTTC is less hassle i guess.

Thanks

Yeh well decided not to try transferring account to my name as they say it takes 6 months. How the hell would it go if account holder died or needed to transfer account to another name.

A friend has her father in a nursing home with dementia and she needs to close the account, she went to shop and they said he'd have to confirm it. That's terrible.

@gazmix_1973 It's called power of attorney, there is a whole lot goes on for security protection of the account holder and that is why EE block every move you are trying to make....

If someone dies that is a different scenario altogether, as proof is a death cert to show so!

Hi @gazmix_1973,

I'm sorry to hear about your friend's experience with her father's account, but if she reaches out to our life events team then they can work with her to find a solution moving forward.

Thanks

So if i go ahead transferring the account to my name & the security thing takes 6 months, does that mean we can't upgrade until after the 6 months although i guess it'd still be in his name until then until then.

Thanks, we keep in his name for time being & will get a tax as he & i can't stand doing all this over the phone.. Stranger we can't do it online.. He has online account but shop say'd he's out of contract hence paying so much & it needs regrading so 2 things to sort out. It all quite a stress for him & me as i'm having health issues too.

If someone died you'd use the Bereavement section of Change My Account in The Case of a Life Event :

Notifying us of a bereavement

Use the online form to notify us of a bereavement.

We’ll need:

  • the account holder’s name and number
  • a number to contact you on

You can also let us know by phone. Call 150 from an EE phone or 07973 100 150 from any phone.

If you experience a bereavement, you can either:

  • disconnect their broadband or number and close their account
  • transfer the connection or number to someone else

Similarly if someone had ill health or a POA you'd use the Ill health section.

Do you mean if the account older is ill then transfering account to me would take away the 6 months wait?

I meant I have health stuff hence my asking a lot as difficult to take in .

@gazmix_1973 It works like this, as a new customer ie no known history then until they see that person doing and paying everything correct in time with zero problems an automatic 6 months is applied to the account to stop any further orders placed or accepted, otherwise they could jump in get plenty orders through not pay and leave with debt up the yazoo and EE left chasing the customer to pay! Taking over the account falls into that band automatically!

Ok thanks I get that, we'll be having a trip to town soon however he's adamant he wants to keep landline number had for over 50 yrs but guy in shop said it was a pain, even just number as I guess has to be VolP I think. Thanks

@gazmix_1973 The number with EE just now will stay with EE so got know idea why that would even be an issue in the slightest for you, you are NOT getting voip in the slightest but moving over to the EE Version of DV Digital Voice on there newer system.... Getting to the stage you would be better just leaving this all alone, and sucking up the cost!

You can't keep "even just no." with EE unless you continue to take out a Home Phone Call Plan (even Pay per Call).

Similarly, @JimM11 , the no. only stays with EE as long as you continue to take out a Home Phone Call Plan.
