Ending month-to-month broadband

My in-laws have been using EE for their broadband and are now off contract. They want to cancel and switch to another much cheaper deal. Are there any requirements for advance notice, or can they simply say "I'm done with EE" and cancel their direct debit at the end of the month?

Billing period is from the 1st of the month, so assuming no advance notice is required there's plenty of time (it's only the 9th today).

Can anyone point me to the rules? Thanks!

@OddLion2 Here see the

Leaving EE Broadband

We need 30 days' notice to cancel your EE broadband. We'll stop your service 30 days after you cancel and let you know your contract has ended.

What is the name of the EE BB plan you are on including its speed? The terms I've been giving you are for the current New EE BB. You may very well be on EE legacy BB. Those terms are broadly similar but 1 of the main diff is that it had a 14-day notice period.

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Home Broadband & Home Phone or Option 2 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband

ISPs: 1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up > 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB > 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB > 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU > 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU > 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC > 2014: EE 20 Meg WBC > 2020: EE 40 Meg FTTC > 2022:EE 80 Meg FTTC SoGEA > 2025 EE 150 Meg FTTP

Sorry @bristolian I've just shut all those pages. I think @XRaySpeX is right, this would be an older account so the notification period was 14 days, not 30.

@OddLion2 You will find most new suppliers take the 14 Days anyway for the changeover depending on what has to be done and until you sign up that's an unknown, just be very careful if you have a Landline Phone to go as well!
