In your online EE a/c under Manage > Plans & Subs > Manage broadband > EE WiFi (at bottom) > Learn more about EE WiFi :

Opt Out & then Opt In again.

This may only be a temporary workaround as it relies on what I believe is a glitch. Opting in again should make the EE WiFi SSID broadcast from your router but currently it doesn't.

Sorry about the delay in replying but I've been in contact with EE and they cannot sort it out although they admit the fault is on their side.

The story so far....

In the summer I joined EE fibre network and all was fine. My computer picked another EE network close by and that was the EE hotspot coming from my router. I did not opt in for this. EE told me to  "opt in ".....then I can "opt out"....but when I try to opt in it tells me I cannot do so at this time. Using Inssider I can see the EE Hotspot with one client on it but no way I can turn it off. Any advice would be appreciated.

If you've followed the instructions suggested by @XRaySpeX and the page states that you are already opted out, then there should be no EE WiFi broadcast from your hub. Are you confident the network you're seeing isn't that from a neighbouring router?

When I switch off my router my internet id and the hotspot id disappear at the same time. There is no one nearby using BT or EE .

If you want to get rid of it completely, in your online EE a/c under Manage > Plans & Subs > Manage broadband > EE WiFi (at bottom) > Learn more about EE WiFi:& then Opt Out. You won't then be able to use other EE WiFi nodes.

The opt in / opt button does not work …. That’s the problem.

@moodybluetwo Pretty much until EE get to the bottom off it on your account side then you are going to be stuck until then! All you can do is go make it official and fill out the complaints form and get it registered for more attention!

I don't think EE have the ability or enthusiasm to sort this out...so I may obtain a new third party router  and fit it myself. That way I have total control of the setup...and can use it with other companies in the future.
