EE Wifi 7 Pro pairing issues with Broadband Router Pro 7

I have recently changed over from BT to EE but still on the same Gigabit service.  I was using my own Netgear Nighthawk Rax 200 Router which did a sterling job of up to 250mbps Wi-fi in my 3rd floor back office but thought I'd give the Wi-fi 7 Pro a go instead.  At first I got it synched with the router in the same room before moving it to the second 2nd floor and it worked perfectly - achieving up to 500+mbps wi-fi in the same 3rd floor back office but I noticed a couple of days ago that the light on the extender changed from a solid aqua to a flashing orange and the connection to it was lost.  I have since tried pairing it again and resetting both devices and whilst it connects first time and a solid aqua again, but once I move it to the 2nd floor again all I get is a flashing orange light.  Any ideas?

I have used a paper clip to press the reset button on the back of both the router and extender and waited for the lights to cycle from green through to flashing orange and then to flashing blue and a solid aqua when re-paired both using cable and through wi-fi but problem still exists, fine when in the same room but when removed and placed just less than 12 feet away, it just flashes orange again and is removed from the panel (i.e. not paired)

Hi

I'm having EXACTLY the same issues as you and have been Teaching Computing for 30 years as well as CompTIA certified so am certainly not a newbie to all this but can't for the life of me to get it to work as it should, well tell a lie - it was working perfectly for about 48 hours before developing the same symptoms as you describe.  I can get them connected in the same room but not when I move the extender away which kind of defeats the object of an extender ... did you get anywhere with this?

Have you tried the same process but also logging out of your app, un-installing your ee app, then downloading EE App again?

I think you have said in your post you've tried connecting the extender via ethernet cable? It's worth leaving it connected for a few more minutes after you've seen the solod aqua light. It sometimes flashes again shortly after the solid aqua - can't remember what colour, sorry, but then goes solid aqua again. There is a temptation to remove the rthernet cable as you think you've hit the solid aqua stage but its occasionally too early...

Not using the app.  Once connected via the ethernet cable I left it 24 hours and made no difference once disconnected.

Two proposals...

1. Try installing hub and router after hard re-set using the app?

2. Hard re-set your ONT (be aware that if you have a DV phone this can wipe your numbers). I did this and I noticed there was a software update during the instalation process that I had not seen before - this was using the app to install the router and extender.

I'll give it a go - thanks

Ok, I was sceptical about the 'switch it off and back on again' resolution but here is EXACTLY what I did (for those still following and/or who may be facing the same issue):-

1.  Switched both Router and Wi-fi Extender off.

2. Switched off ONT on the wall and waited 10 minutes.

3. Plugged in Network cable between Router and Wi-fi Extender - 0.5m apart

3. Switched on ONT and then Router, followed by Wi-fi Extender

4. Left Router to pair with Wi-Fi Extender and until solid aqua light was on both

5.  Left the 2 plugged in overnight

6. Next day - removed Wi-Fi Extender from next to router and took it half the distance from final place - flashing orange but left it a couple of hours to return to solid aqua light

7. Moved Wi-Fi Extender to final place and solid Aqua

Not getting carried away but worked for 48 hours before flashing orange ... hopefully, fingers crossed ...

Keeping everything crossed for you.  Glad it is looking positive for you. Can you let us know if you used the app to install? Just in case the app is the problem and we should all be installing without the app?

Fingers still crossed and things looking good - all stable and getting 250mbps down and 104.5mbps up in 2nd floor back office which is not brilliant but not too shabby either.  I could not link my account with the app and it keeps telling me to contact EE to verify my account - don't know what that is all about as I have inputted my account correctly.  I just hop on to browser and type in 192.168.254.1 to monitor/change my connections.  I therefore suggest you bypass the app and just connect directly to ONT and then setup wi-fi using standard login details and avoid setting up and keeping existing Network names and passwords.  The app is really unnecessary and I have read somewhere it is flaky and unreliable anyway.

Oddly tonight the d/l speed averaged 742mbps in 2nd floor back office and u/l at 105mbps so there must still be some settling in - result!
