Hi all, have an essential fibre 36 broadband connection with EE using the old style adsl line. I don't have a phone connection.
I want to use the netgear orbi rbr50 and two rbs50 satellites with the ee smart hub sh31b so I get wifi signal throughout the house.
Can someone please give me a dummies/simple guide on how to do this please?! Thanks

You should be able to do w/out the EE SH+ router & connect the Netgear instead, using its yellow BB port.
You'll need to set EE's BB PPPoE Username & pwd which are the same as BT's in the Netgear's WAN Settings. In Using & Configuring a Third Party Router you'll find everything you need to set up your own router.

I don't think thats possible because the internet cable comes through the old style adsl connection so theres no port on the netgear rbr50 router for it to go into, see the pic of how the cable goes into the broadband socket on the ee router. Also please see the picture of the orbi router that doesn't have an adsl port for this type of connection. Thanks
Any other suggestions please?

You're right. It was hard to read. The Yellow port is an Internet WAN port, not a "Broadband" port as I thought it said.
In which case you will need to connect that to a yellow LAN port of the SH+ with an Ethernet cable. Forget what I said about EE's BB PPPoE Username & pwd.

But won't i need to make the ee hub modem only and apparently thats not possible?

It's not necessary for it to work. Anyway the SH+ can't be made modem-only.. If you like you could disable WiFi on the SH+ & rely on the Netgear for all WiFi.

Whats the steps to disable wifi on the sh31b please? What settings do i need to do on a factory reset rbr50?

@Mustrum i saw your comments on similar posts would greatly appreciate your input and help on this.
Not overly familiar with all terms or overly technical so a step by step guide for changing settings etc would he appreciated a lot. Thanks in advance

Login to your EE Smart Hub/Router at http://192.168.1.254 with the admin password on the bottom of the slider label on the back of the router. Then on the Advanced > Advanced Wireless page you should be able to set Wireless to OFF.

@eeforlife to use the Orbi with the EE Hub, you just need to connect a LAN cable between a Lan port of the EE Hub, and the WAN port of the first Orbi, then set the Orbi as an Access Point as described on the Netgear website. https://www.netgear.com/support/product/rbr50/#configurationassistance_commontopics
Switch off the WiFi as per @XRaySpeX post.
However, to take advantage of the Orbi's Router features you need to connect it via a modem, and there are not too many available these days. But if you go to a well known online auction website, Plusnets version of the EE and/or BT Hub can be switched to modem only mode. You need the later Plusnet Hub2. It can then just replace your EE Hub, and you change the Orbi to Router mode, and enter the PPOE details already posted, no need for the VLAN as the modem does that for you.
