EE SMART HUB sh31b with netgear orbi rbr50

Hi all, have an essential fibre 36 broadband connection with EE using the old style adsl line. I don't have a phone connection.

I want to use the netgear orbi rbr50 and two rbs50 satellites with the ee smart hub sh31b so I get wifi signal throughout the house.

Can someone please give me a dummies/simple guide on how to do this please?! Thanks

I did a few reset cycles and i kept sattelites close to the orbi.. Got them working. Moved one upstairs and connected tv via lan cable and few mins later the orbi went solid magenta. Removed lan cable from tv, Resynced it and now works. Hsve setup tv wirelessly and will monitor it, I'm worried something causing the sattelite to lose sync when i connect it with a lan cable to the tv

I called EE as when i looked at the broadband password on my EE router settings it just said its hidden for security reasons.. They claim there isn't one?!

Also i couk

@eeforlife   these mesh systems can take time to settle down, and if you have not yet switched off the WiFi on the EE Hub the signal could be affected.

As for the password, you won't need it until you get a modem, but it was provided earlier in the third party router link.

Connection type: Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE)
Broadband username or login name: bthomehub@btbroadband.com
Broadband password: BT (or leave blank)
Authentication: CHAP
DNS: Auto or Obtain from ISP (we'll automatically provide these when you connect)

They could be right. The BB pwd may be either "BT" or blank. The BB Username  will be bthomehub@btbroadband.com

If you go back to plugging the cable from the router into 1 of the white LAN ports of the Orbi does this unreliability completely go away?

For now the satellite has been working withe the tv wirelessly for an hour without signal disappearing so all good... Tomorrow will plug into tv with lan cable and see if that magenta light comes back or not. Thanks

Thanks for the settings, wireless is definitely off on the EE hub. The orbi mesh has been working fine past hour wirelessly with tv. Tomorrow will try with lan cable again and see if thats the issue.. If so am confused why?!

In the interim am likely to get the plusnet hub2 so can set it in bridge mode and use the netgear orbi properly hopefully (like using lan connections from the sattelites).

Somehow the wireless network ssid from the ee hub came back on! That might be reason the sattelites didnt work? Have switched off the wireless id and pressed save again

@eeforlife   it does that if the Hub is rebooted or new firmware is updated. No way to stop it alas.

Another good reason for having a modem, and Orbi in router mode!

Sorry, @Mustrum , my SH+ has retained my own SSID thro' every reboot I 've done since I had it (about 6 months). It may be that some f/ware updates may set it back to default but they never have on mine thro' the few updates that I've gone for.

Good to hear @XRaySpeX  if totally irrelevant.

The point I was making that Wi-Fi gets turned back on when it was switched off, after a firmware update.

@Mustrum : Totally relevant to what you said. You used the "either ... or" construction. That means either a reboot event or a f/ware event initiates this. Either stand by your words or correct them. You have done the latter in your latest post where you are using the 2 in conjunction.
