EE Disc WE410443 with EE Smart Hub SH20a possible?

Hi all

I've searched the forum and can't find this particular request or issue.

I have a EE WiFi Disc with product code WE410443- OL and an EE Smart Hub SH20A and have not had success setting it up.

I've tried the EE App which tried to connect via wireless, but it doesn't suceed.  I tried doing the whole process with ethernet connected, still doesn't work.  I tried both 3 times.

I have logged via browser into Smart Hub and entered the admin area. The Disc is showing as connected to Ethernet with an IP but I can't directly access that IP address.  The admin area says an App is needed to connect discs.  I tapped the link and it send me to a BT App, I now have that App, but I can't get into it because I don't have a BT account number, it doesn't recognise my EE account number.

Not sure what else I can try.  I thought I'd be able to manually set it up. Why is an App needed?

@TickersPlaysPop  Are you trying the EE app or the EE home app ?

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

Sorry for not being clear...

Using the EE App, it tried to set up the disc and seemed to make some progress after I press the WPS button on the back of the disc.  But after a few minutes of flashing blue it fails.

The EE Home App itself doesn't even get connected to the network.  I am hesitant to use the EE Home App at this stage to set up the router just in case it makes everything worse.

The OpenReach engineer set up the Smart Hub, so I've never been through the router set up process yet.

Don't use the EE Home app. It's intended for the white EE Smart Router.

I don't recognise that EE WiFi Disc. What colour & shape is it?

You have the EE Smart Hub (2023) ,model no. SH20A, of Set up your Home Broadband EE Router. You need the EE Smart WiFi (2023) , model no. SW10A, of Setting up Smart WiFi to go with it.

Hi

I know that device works, but the disc I have is badged EE and was supplied last year, so it should be compatible with the smart hub.

The disc is a much nicer option for mounting to the wall which is what I need.  The WiFi mesh devices supplied by EE now are not as nice and are more designed for putting on a shelf.   The location I need mine has a handy Ethernet port for the house network and power socket on the wall.

I was hoping this was just a case of accessing the settings and making the necessary adjustments.  The weird thing is the fact the smart hub Web interface sends me to a BT app to set up the WiFi mesh extenders.  But the smart hub is badged EE and the mesh disc I have is badged EE.

It's all very annoying that we are blocked from manual set ups, I guess it best suits those that just want plug and play.

Maybe this is just a firmware change needed on the smart hub or disc that I have?

How can I access the disc and/or smart hub to change firmware?

I asked you for the colour & shape of the EE WiFi Disc that you have so I can ID it but you never provided that info. If it is white & round as per the EE Smart WiFi Disc of Setting up Smart WiFi then they only compatible with the EE Smart Router, & not the EE Smart Hub (2023) that you have.

@TickersPlaysPop You need to answer the question asked of you, the smart wifi looks like it is not compatible with the new EE Smarthub 2023 Router, and you will get no FW to do any fixes!

How do I reverse the accidental touch of the solution button?!

It would be an idea to have an "are you sure" option?
