EE Broadband APP WifI Controls not working

Mart30

I have recently signed up to EE Broadband.   My broadband is working fine, however the APP WiFi controls feature and the Wifi enhancer are not available on the app or via the website.   An error message appears and states it is a problem with EE.  I  have spoken with the technical team at EE on two occasions and they have recommended i reinstall the APP and restart the router.  I have now done this many times and the APP features are still not working.   This is very very VERY frustrating!    I am going in circles with the EE technical team and it is not clear how or if this will be resolved.  EE is not living up to expectations.  If there is an issue, i would prefer EE acknowledge the fault and advise when it will be fixed rather than directing me to do the same thing over and over again (i.e reinstall the app).   Can anybody help?   Is this new feature just a myth?

Me also. Have had ed from 20 yrs of BT and internet good but app not working since 31/10/24. Called several times per week. Keep saying it’ll be ok in a few days. Never the case still the same. Like you I’d like to know when it’ll work so I can see my bill etc and be able to use the full  app functionality

is this grounds to leave we as I am now just outside the 14 day return period

Hi there @Zapdoc

I am sorry you are unable to use all features of the app.

Thanks for reporting this to our broadband guides to be looked into, have you tried deleting and reinstalling the app?

If so, and you would like to discuss your options please get back in touch and the team will help you further.

Thanks.

Leanne.

Yes I’ve had the same problem since switching over from BT to EE. I’ve had no access to Broadband bills either although DD payments are going through!! Funny that…

Regards

Anton

Finally, Wifi Control issues now fixed with the new EE App update.  I'd to uninstall the app then reinstall the new updated version.

Well, after nearly seven months without being able to set up the wi-fi controls it is now resolved.

Long story but after frequent app unistalling/reinstalling over the months with no success it came down to this for me:-

Early on in my change to EE my now router would not update, so EE sent me a new one. However after further testing and swapping of routers the EE "guide" settled on continuing with the old one.

It wasn't until the last of many calls with EE over the seven months that the EE guy asked me to check the serial number of the router. We found out that the serial number on their system was for the new router. So I plugged in the new router and low and behold erything sprung into life.

So it might be worth checking that the serial number on the router matches that of what is on EE records.

P.S. After so much effort to get the WI-Fi control working it's very disappointing. Not a patch on the old controlls I had with the BT Smart Hubs!!!

@Stevef1964 With all the new features that the EE app has, groups, schedules, remote access control when not at home surely it must be way better than the MyBT app and the BT Smart Hubs.

Thanks for updating here. I was forced back to BT and do not regret it,
however it makes total sense. Thanks again, very useful for people to know.

I'm surprised, but not at the same time that the issues is still ongoing, I ended up getting my own router to manage my network because ISP routers just aren't fit for purpose. I've spent so much time in the past with technical support and I no longer have the time to spend hours on the phone unless I have to. Virgin Media burned me so EE might not be as bad but I'm not taking the risk!

Hooraayy! At last EE has fixed this parental control issue. Well, at least on my mobile.  After hundreds of unsuccessful calls to EE since April 2024 today I have decided to try one more time after seeing Stevef1964’s message in this group.

I deleted the EE app on my mobile and re installed and tried to connect to EE hub. To my surprise it worked! Just miracle! I was so happy that i though I won a World Cup in football 😃

You have a go and try and hopefully persistency will help.

i am leaving some screenshots here.

That is great. I think I will do the same. Do you mind me asking what
router you used. I have teenage kids and really want to stop access to some
sites and try to stop VPNs, etc. Does your router allow that?
