Does a Smart WiFi Plus (booster) support Guest Networks

I have a Smart Hub Plus extended by a Smart WiFi Plus booster (y'know, if you have to put "Smart" in the name, that tells me everything I need to know about how smart the device is). I have a Guest network configured for IoT devices. However, all the IoT devices struggle with weak WiFi signal. Running around the house with a network scanning tool on my phone, it appears that the Booster isn't extending the Guest (IoT) network, only the Main network.

So my question is: is this expected behaviour? is the Booster supposed to support the Guest network as well as the Main network?

@Majtepper was replying to @AnnaH123 to try and save all the hassle for doing factory reset's and messing the whole system up when nothing would get resolved in doing that! And thanks for replying some never do!

Thank you Peter. I’m think of setting up an access point utilising the powerline extender, to provide Guest WiFi in a hard to reach part of the house. Would that be a viable alternative?

@AnnaH123 : Yes, it would as you'll be taking the Wifi from the far Powerline adapter in the remote location. Don't expect tremendous speeds!

EDIT: On thinking about it, I'll take this back. As the near Powerline adapter is plugged into a LAN port of the router the far Powerline adapter will be broadcasting the Ethernet signal albeit over its own WiFi network SSID. The router's Guest WiFi network won't come into it.

@AnnaH123 As @XRaySpeX has mentioned here, it is technically possible with a Powerline extender, but we can't guarantee that the guest network will function exactly the same as it would direct from your Hub.

Peter

Thanks XRaySpeX do you mean it wouldn’t work then?

@AnnaH123 You can setup and use the Powerline Extenders own guest network feature, same as before it is ONLY from that single unit!

@AnnaH123 : No, it won't work as a Guest network.

Thanks JimM11 that would work for me as I only need it in one place. Does the TP-Link Powerline Passthrough have its own guest network settings, or do you mean the guest network in the access point that I plug into it? …. Answering my own question I guess it will depend whether the powerline extender has that functionality. EE sent TP-Link TL-PA7017PKIT Gigabit Passthrough Powerline Extender so I think I’ll need to plug in an access point.

@AnnaH123 : The EE WiFi Extender that you may plug into it has no Guest network. That is the whole point of this thread.

Thanks Ray, yes I’ve gathered that. I was going to create a network access point instead of using the extender. I’ll let you know if it works.
