Device Naming by EE Smart Hub Plus

Here is perhaps an interesting observation.

There are many reports that the EE SH+ names devices in its network with queer names & it is said that they can only be changed to sensible ones by using the EE app & cannot be changed by the router's GUI itself.

For some time I've had a SH+ which I only used to browse its settings in order the advise peeps on here. So I just had it not connected to BB. It named devices under My Network with funny names often based on their MAC Addys making it difficult to ID which was which.

Now I have just switched to Full Fibre & am pleasantly surprised to find that when it it is connected to the ONT it now names all devices with their proper names. I have no need to call upon the EE app (& don't intend to!).

When I disconnect from BB it reverts to its funny naming system. So it doesn't remember the true names,

@XRaySpeX It got a help on an EE app update couple of versions back, which kind off helped with the naming on devices, but by no means is it any better, i have 2 devices on the EE Web with the exact same computer name that were originally down as mac address for my Asus RP unit, and can no longer even see it now in the EE app so it is completely stuck, just have to look at the mac to work out what is what.

@XRaySpeX In general as an ISP supplied router is does it's job, just got 2 many weird oops that are difficult to kind of work around, i keep the router as the primary just so can see what is going on with the sucker, but it's looking more and more likely that it's going back in the box shortly, but waiting on this new version that some OP's have posted but not seen yet, at 53 Day's up, just the normal web interface slow down, about 8 seconds per page change, 2 seconds once reset back, suspect that it is the logging slowing the web interface down, about a page per day normal operation.
