Hi there.
Ive been having an issue where anything connecting to the router with ethernet can take up to a minute to get connected.
Ive tried resetting the router and updating devices but it doesnt help.
It seems to be some bug in the router as ive never came across this before where ethernet takes so long to negotiate a connection.
Its causing issues with a home server and couple desktops that fail to login apps online due to delay getting a connection, requiring manual intervention clicking retry connection on several apps when i should be able to power on and walk away.
Its literally taking the router 3x longer to give ethernet connections to devices than it used to take to connect to dialup in the 90's , it should be almost instantaneous.

@Greghead It is posted many times on the forum, that a direct connection to the EE Router via NIC Ethernet takes over 30 seconds to establish the port, the ONLY method is to by-pass this by connecting a switch in between the devices, i will find the last posted link and copy below so you can read it.
Solved: forced move from bt to ee, do not like the new router , not impressed - The EE Community

Have you tried setting the speed/duplex so it's not trying to negotiate? Not that it should take 30 seconds, but it should at least just come straight up at the right speed.

This seems to be a bug rather than normal operation though and shouldnt require a cludge of needing a seperate switch to work around considering the router is advertised as "best yet".
I went from BT 300 to EE 500 and now 900 and this new router can only be described as defective as none of the previous routers took 10-30x longer to connect ethernet than this one?

@Greghead Well you have a choice, the EE Smarthub+ and possibly the Pro does this, and my router was installed way back in April and had 3 FW updates, so if you wish to wait and see IF/WHEN it get's fixed do so, else put the BT Router back on if you still have it, and all the problems will disappear. The products are not apples to apples.

Ill give that a try if i can find the old BT router but seems like a step backwards having to use a several year old router to get the expected performance compared to this new one.
The router is advertised as having gb ethernet ports but are almost unusable in its current form, and searching the forums its been an issue for ages.
Ill see if EE will also send me a replacement and keep getting it replaced until the issue goes away as the router is part of the package im paying for and isnt working properly.

@Greghead Good luck with that, £15 gets you a switch that will get rid of your problem, throwing routers at it will solve nothing. Once your devices are all connected on the network and established then there is zero problems, it is just the initial connection that takes the 30 seconds of time, but the switch will bring that down to zero....

Thanks!
Ill give the old router a shot once found it and try this ee one every now n again to see if they finally fix this bug with an update.
Bit disappointed that they have taken this long to fix the issue as the BT side of the Co are pretty quick to fix dodgy bugs in the routers.

I had the same issue with the Smart Hub Plus, but then I got a Smart Hub Pro and it connected a lot faster, the issue is still there but doesn't take nearly as long. my pc has an nvme drive so it boots quite quick and i would say it takes around 4-5 seconds for the connection to establish. For comparison my old bt smart hub 2 was instant. so definitely a firmware issue.
