Stay with me:
Switched from Virgin to EE. EE came out yesterday but Openreach says there is an issue that could take up to 10 days to fix!! I work from home and am now panicking that my Virgin contract was due to end yesterday (still on at mo) and I'll be left without any connection at all.
I just read somewhere that EE wont instruct Virgin to disconnect until the switch is complete - does that sound right?

Yes, your old ISP's BB should not be discon'ed until your new ISP's BB is up & running.

If you decide to place an order for a WBC fibre product, an appointment may be required for an engineer to visit the end user's premises to supply the service

There's no indication of any issues there. You have an active Full Fibre service delivered from an ONT modem served by an underground duct.
If it is a neighbourhood issue, you could consult Check service in your area to see if any faults are being attended to in your local area. You may also Report a Problem there.
