Changed from BT to EE? Check your Antivirus COMPLAINT

Glenford-57_2

I moved over to BT nearly 3 years ago for my Broadband.   I made sure that the Antovirus - then Norton - was activated.

However, when BT customers were moved to EE, it seems, that in my case, maybe yours too, the Antivirus was not transferred to the active EE system.  I was told that BT uses Norton but EE has a different system.

Now I have a major problem.  I get messages "Your computer is infected" "Your windows is infected and the antivirus is not working properly" and at least 3 others repeated every 20 seconds.

I did a Large Scan on the Norton site and it threw up about 15 errors, all of which, the system has rectified (or so it stated). Not so. Still received the messages.

I  requested a call from EE to explain the problem at 08.00 this morning.  This did take place for about 15 minutes.  Then the call was terminated (not by me) and they did not call back.  I received an text stating "if you need to speak to us further" press the link.  I did not do this in the time allowed and link expired, so called 150 as instructed.  Then in a queue.

My question is:  Why was not the Antivirus updated when we moved to EE.  This was NOT a voluntary action.  Surely this should have been done for all BT customers or at least, tell us that it had to be done.  I am an OAP and need to use my email etc a lot.  I do not want to infect other computers if I contact them.

Hi @Glenford-57_2

Instructions on his to set this up are here:

https://ee.co.uk/help/cyber-security/manage-use/setting-up

Unless you have opened some unsavoury sites or links then it is unlikely you have anything to worry about.

Thanks
