Hello. I’m having a nightmare since switching from BT fibre to EE a few weeks ago (big mistake). I had ZERO issues with my BT router in terms of performance and range however, this router has proved to be unusable. I have an iMac in a back room in my house Here is a video to show you how far away it is. They are also stud walls. I am getting approx 13mb download on my iMac (I was regularly getting 600mb on my iMac). I have tried various things such as playing around with channel numbers, disabling 5ghz, and resetting my router. I can’t even login to the app on my iPhone (attached image), so I am using the web based control panel. I’m a web designer working from home and my iMac is pretty much unusable at these download speeds. Before I call to cancel, can anyone recommend anything else I can try? I’m paying almost £50 per month for broadband only and it’s no use at present. Thanks in advance.

@joec1985 If you still have the BT router, then connect it back in place of the new supplied EE.

Hmmm. They sent me a returns bag and label and told me to send it back which I did.

@joec1985 So has it taken the few weeks for it all to go bad? Think you would have spotted it instantly if not? Your pictures will take time to be released for viewing.

@joec1985 Has your EE Router position changed from were the BT router was, and i do draw to your attention that you were informed to keep hold of the router. Settings that would be the same as your older BT are, WPA2 mode, WiFi 5 mode. Are you using any Smart WiFi extenders?

It’s in the same place. I was told to return the BT router. They sent me a return package. All settings are the same.

@joec1985 What EE package did you settle on? you are going to have to find a way of connecting an ethernet on some device to the LAN connection on the EE router and do a speed test so there is a baseline to work from unless that is already the case from your picture sent, you may also wish to send some screen captures of you router settings in the web manager also. If you can turn of all wifi devices, only have one on and speed test also about 6' away from the EE Router.

It’s the full fibre 900.  I’m going to call EE first thing to see if I can revert back to BT it’s less than two weeks as I’m honestly not spending anymore time troubleshooting at this stage. Thanks for your help.

@joec1985 Probably best, you will find that it is 3 weeks in 2 days time since you changed over, good luck hope you get it sorted.👍

@joec1985  - if you hold the Option key on your iMac and click the Wi-Fi icon in your menu bar, then it may provide some clues about the quality of the Wi-Fi connection. From memory it tells you things like the Wi-Fi link speed and the band that's in use; that could be helpful in trying to diagnose the problem.

Can't think of any logical reason why the performance would differ so significantly. Assume there are no other WI-Fi extenders etc. on your local network that could be complicating things?
