BT broadband to EE 1.6gbps

What a pain it has been to switch over to EE to get new router and faster speeds. Initially I was told they can order the 1.6gbps broadband from EE as I had by complete WiFi and i agreed only then after the phone call ended I noticed they simply transferred over like for like package on EE and found I then had to pay more not much but still £1 more. I was later told to let my order complete and I can then regrade and get the 1.6gb fibre from EE. I then checked on EE and it was still showing as I have the 900mb package. A few days passed, however  to my surprise it now shows I can get rhe 1.6 gbps package from EE. So when I called again to day I was told I can’t get it even though I am on full fibre fttp as the people on the phone said they can’t see the offer so can’t provide this to me  so firstly I was misled and missold what I was ordering then now their site doesn’t match it states I can get which is mis advertising. I have spent a number hours on the phone.

@Bluenose_Dave

Hahahaha 😂😂😂

Great minds think alike, I rung them this morning too and once again got through to "Lean" in Ireland who was very nice and looked into my account.

Obviously she saw the failure to arrive from Openreach from 29th December and again I made it clear this was a complete shambles (without being rude) to which she agreed.

Anyway another appointment for Monday 15th January made and although I opted for an am visit 8.00am - 1200 they have told me it will be pm as in this message today.🤣

You couldn't make it up could you.

We can only wait and see what happens this time.🙄

I think my success was celebrated too early!

Initially I was getting close to 1300Mbps down but that changed mid afternoon and speeds dropped to between 200-650, and since then I've not been able to exceed 930 (which is what I could get on the old BT Fibre900 connection).

Initially spoke to Belfast and they arranged for a Qube engineer to come out to me advising there is a problem between the ONT and Router so I did some tests myself:

  • Power cycled the ONT and router
  • Factory reset the Smart Hub Plus
  • Tested with a brand new Cat6 ethernet cable
  • Connected to a third party WiFi 6E router -  didn't make any difference.
  • Connected directly to the ONT to Mac with a 2.5Gbps network adaptor and the max connection is 946 down and 114 up.

Called and spoke with the original person looking after my account and they've run tests and opened a ticket with OR for further investigation. They think that I might need a new ONT and/or an OR visit to try and diagnose the problem but I need to wait until tomorrow or when OR get back to them.

I guess it's a waiting game now! 🙃

I was going to move over from BT but reading through this thread, I don`t think I`ll bother.
