BT broadband full WiFi transfer to EE 1.6gbps

BT broadband to EE 1.6gbps

What a pain it has been to switch over to EE to get new router and faster speeds. Initially I was told they can order the 1.6gbps broadband from EE as I had by complete WiFi and i agreed only then after the phone call ended I noticed they simply transferred over like for like package on EE and found I then had to pay more not much but still £1 more. I was later told to let my order complete and I can then regrade and get the 1.6gb fibre from EE. I then checked on EE and it was still showing as I have the 900mb package. A few days passed, however  to my surprise it now shows I can get rhe 1.6 gbps package from EE. So when I called again to day I was told I can’t get it even though I am on full fibre fttp as the people on the phone said they can’t see the offer so can’t provide this to me  so firstly I was misled and missold what I was ordering then now their site doesn’t match it states I can get which is mis advertising. I have spent a number hours on the phone.

Router arrived today but no WiFi satellites. Spoke with my complaints handler and she’s not sure why I didn’t get at least one. She’s not been able to order any for me now but when the order completes she’s going to get me some ordered (as I currently have 3).

Not clear if it should include Hybrid Connect or not? I previously had it although didn’t use it because I had my own router.

She’s also spoke with the team dealing with these connections and they’ve advised that we’re on track and everything is progressing as it should so here’s hoping OR don’t stuff things up.

Side note, the router performance is good getting 700-800Mbps down in the same room as the router on it on my current connection. In the next room I’m getting about 500Mbps+ down, is about the same as my current router. Currently using a Deco XE75 Pro with 2 satellites and get around 500-600 across the house when using the 6Ghz as dedicated backhaul. The EE router is never going to get anywhere near 1600 although it’s sold as ‘up to’ when you consider the ethernet ports limited feels like a lie!

Found a strange bug where if it’s using a DFS band (WiFi 6 Performance) my iPhone 15 PM will only connect to the 2.4Ghz network and gets stuck which is annoying to say the least.

Got mini hub not what i expected as it.   A credit. Card size unit own WiFi name and password, i was I guess expecting the same sort of unit like the bt hybrid connection unit what links into the smart hub plus

Pretty sure they're the same as the ones BT send out.

Still got mine kicking around but it only gets activated when there's a fault as part of my Halo 3+ package. The reception on them is so much better than the hybrid connect which is just useless most of the time and limited to 30Mbps.

Currently been using my hybrid Bt connection. The EE MIini hub speed is about the same as hybrid connection so now at least I have 2 30 meg connections but still no fibre connection

I don't know why they're so worried about the speeds and restricting the hubs and hybrid connects, there can't be that many customers using them? Allegedly if you get antenna's for the Hybrid Connect it helps improve the signal but if you're already getting the 30Mbps then you probably don't need to worry. I've still got my old hybrid connect from BT too and found it works with the new EE Smart Hub Plus.

I've hooked that up for now if anything goes wrong next week.

OR came today and switched the ONT, got a call from the engineer to me know he was 10 minutes away. When he arrived he had to call back office to register the new ONT on the PON which took a bit of time but eventually went through.

EE router reports that I'm getting 1800Mbps down although only managed to achieve a max of 1300Mbps.

It looks like, at least for now, it's working for me.
