At Last- but help!

Hey so my area FINALLY got fibre. We live in the sticks. They’re coming to fit 22nd December. Yay. As part of the upgrade I’ve opted to upgrade my router from smart hub plus to smart hub pro. We’ve only been with EE about 3 months and when we first got the smart hub plus (moving from BT hub) it was horrendous to have to manually pair each device with the new EE smart hub. Literally took me a day and about 5 tantrums (we have lots of smart devices etc mixture of 2Ghz and 5Ghz devices). Nightmare!

so…. My smart hub pro arrives a couple days before the fibre engineer comes. Is there anything I can do during that period to make everything go smoothly. Can someone talk me over backup and restore and how that would work please? That should just work seamlessly right? Do I do that through the EE app? An idiots guide step by step would be AMAZING if anyone has the time. Would be most grateful!

do I plug in my new hub without Ethernet first while I backup and restore or??? Literally step by step I think is what I need. Thank you so much!!!

Our engineer changed the SSID(s) on the new router to the same as the old one when he visited. I wasnt there but spoke to him on the phone and he was happy to do so. That way everything just reconnected. Worth an ask as not sure this is in the job spec. Or do it yourself.

@FibreAtLast NO backup and restore feature, would not even work between different models if it did anyway. You set up the new Pro hub online to the connection and keep the old hub powered beside it somewhere, and when using the Stupid app to do it there is a point where it ask's keep the settings off your old system, that is a yes and it will copy your ssid/password off the Plus unit over to the Pro unit. NOTE them somewhere and keep them safe you will need if you ever have to Factory Reset the Pro, as it will revert to the ID on the label....

Other way is to plug it in, attach an Ethernet cable to the Pro, power it up and use the Web Manager interface, http://192.168.1.254 get to the screen and change the ssid/password to that off the Plus, and i would also set the Admin Password on the Pro to what it is on the Plus also.... That way when you plug the Pro in and go live good chance everything will switch over fine.... Then you just have to deal with getting your STUPID app to work!

So forget the backuo/restore it will not work, and you will have to do all the DV settings again for your landline phone if using!

You can't start using the SH Pro yet as it does not have a connection to DSL as the SH+ has.
