Hi. I've just moved over to EE from BT ff900 fttp. I wanted to get the 1.6Gbps package, that is available to my address. But i was told that that package was only available to new customers and that i would have to wait for until EE/BT send out a letter offering it to existing customers. Even if i left and rejoined, i would only be able to get 1Gbps, as i was told that i would still be classed as an existing customer. Is this true, or did BT lie to me?
Having receiver the EE router for the 1Gbps package, i noticed that the max speed in the Wan and Lan ports are 1Gpbs. Once the upgrade option does roll out, will EE be shipping out a new router so i can actually achieve the speeds advertised, or will i have to buy third party router?
Does anyone have a recommendation for a good third party router with at least one multi-gig lan port and wifi6/7?
Thank you.

Which router have you got? If it's the Smart Hub Plus usually sent to users of EE New Full Fibre BB, it will have a 2.5 Gig WAN but only 1 Gig LANs. However it should have WiFi-6 capable of many Gig.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I believe it is the shp. The spec sheet I read might of been for an older model or I just didn't read it correctly.
I need multigig lan port for one device, the WiFi6/7 will be for satellite devices that are of less importance. I know WiFi is all the rage with most people now, but seems daft to supply a router that caps speed for wired connections. Especially considering the monthly cost of the package and requiring their hub to use digital voice.
Do you have any router recommendations?
