so officially switch from BT 900 to BT 1.6 gbps today, and what a disappointment it has been so far, not getting anyway near advertised speeds and even lower than guaranteed speed of 1.3gbps, most i have had is 1150mbps and sometimes shows 870mbps which is lower than what i was getting from bt 900 that was averaging around 940/960 consistently. uploads are fine as they are low anyway not too much of a task to get 115 up. so my hardware is as follows asus rog rapture gt ax11000 pro going into a 2.5gbps switch then going into a z690 mobo with a 2.5gbps lan, all connected with cat 6 cables and drivers updated for all hardware. from my point of view there is nothing on my end that would bottleneck me this bad, so it has to be on EE end. i have seen multiple people with the same type of setups and are getting 1.6 plus download speeds.
so my question to anyone that bothers to read this or has had any similar problems, can you let me know if it got resolved overtime ? or if there may be a setting to fix said issue may inside asus router.
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

They aren't. Happy to retest and report back.
However, as mentioned above, on my 2 PCs, I'm pushing 1.7gbps over ethernet. This happens with multiple PCs and wifi devices connecteed. Testing over Wifi, right next to a wifi 7 router, I can't can't push 1gbps. I appreciate wifi is never perfect but I'd have expected a little more from 6e/7 devices, no?

@MoCash Here is a link for you to read a document on wiisfi.com, it explains all about what you need to know, you can print it to a pdf file, used to be able to download but that is not a option now. And are you sure that your wi-fi clients are 6E? read the document when you get time. HTH

Hi again,
Yes I'll have a read. I have a Galaxy Fold 4 and iPad Pro and can see the 6e icon.
A family member received an s24 ultra today so I will see if its an older gen device limiting speeds.
But again, I easily hit the 1.6gbps throughput on everything but Wifi. I just cant cross 1gbps but as the above user and others have stated they can.

@MoCash Until you only have ONE wi-fi device on then your test's are fruitless to start with. What speed are you reaching so far on your wi-fi speed test?

Hi again,
Thanks for linking that document, it's actually explaining a lot. Still, my throughput is only around 55%.
Since switching over to a TP-Link Wifi 7 mesh, I've been hitting around 980mbps right next to the master node. The speeds are actually very consistent at other nodes too, but never cross this.
On the EE Smart Hub Plus, I did cross 1gbps on wifi, so I know it's possible and obviously the SHP was limited to 1gbps ethernet hence the switch.

Hi again,
So I did some testing between devices: It seems to be exactly as the guide you sent has suggested.
Even on the same Wi-Fi standard (6, 6e and 7), throughput changes generationally.
My S24 Ultra hits the following speeds on Wi-Fi 7, where as my Fold 4 with Wi-Fi 6e cannot cross 1gbps.
It seems that other 6e devices, newer, hit higher. Other 6/5 devices have a performance difference between generations.

@MoCash Glad to be of help, wi-fi is such a mine field and fluid, so it's great to get high speed's and you can always go get a cup of tea when the sucker get's busy, My boy did the same, got the VM gigabyte package, boy was he **bleep**ed when the PS5 struggles to get above 500mb/s Ethernet wired when he wants to download because Sony server is busy, it is what it is.👍

Tell me about it. I’m happy to say I’m getting around 1.7gbps wired and have now hit over 1.6gbps on Wi-Fi 7, so I’m pretty damn happy.
As per your guide, it’s purely generation. Older Wi-Fi 6e devices do worse than mine, and the Galaxy Fold 5 for example does better. Hoping the next one is Wi-Fi 7!

@MoCash Thanks for posting back, it's always good to see the user get what he expects from the system.😀👍
