transfer data stuck at 1 minute remaining

I am setting up my new iphone but the data transfer from the old one seems to be stuck at "time remaining about 1 minute".How do I get rid of this...is it safe to simply turn off the old phone?

Welcome to the community.

Did it go through in the end? I wouldn't recommend turning the phone off while a transfer is going through.

Actually I got through to a lovely human being on the EE phone line who
talked me through turning off and restarting the old phone and then
everything finished
