I just received an email that states:

I do not have any credit issues and have an excellent credit rating... is this a genuine email? If so, how do I resolve as not been refused an upgrade ever!

Yes that is a genuine email. You will need to speak to EE but they can't tell you why you have been denied.

Just got the same email a day after I placed an order.
I did find it quite odd because I have a great credit score.
