iPhone 12 pro pre-order & Upgrade any time ?

Hi

I ordered my iPhone 12 pro 256gb Pacific blue on Friday at 13:50.

I’m currently on an £89 monthly IPhone 11pro smart plan, I’m 12 months into my current contract so upgrade anytime with no upfront cost, trade in the handset as long as it’s a new plan with the same price or more on 24 month contract. I upgraded to exactly the same plan, the £89 smart plan on iPhone 12 pro, I got confirmation email all gone through and I’ll get my phone on release day. Great I’m happy.

Monday morning I got an email saying EE need more details. I called them up and they said my order was cancelled and I have to go for a higher priced plan. The man on the phone said ‘it looks like they want you to go up on price not across or down’ (I argued this isn’t what it says on t&c but they don’t tell you it includes the yearly inflation not the original price agreed on the contract). This forced me into going for the £94 per month ‘full works plan’ The lady said I will still get it on release day.

Release day today and no phone. I called up and I was told it won’t take 14 days  and it could be tomorrow but on the forums the EE team are all saying if you don’t get it today you won’t get it until 14 day’s.

I have been with EE for a good 8 years, Me and my wife are currently spending just over £250 per month on mobiles and tablets with EE I have always thought they were a great company but this is disappointing to say the least.

When does the price stop going up with the smart plan upgrades. If you kept upgrading anytime as it’s advertised the bill would rocket up. It’s misleading, I wouldn’t mind so much if I had just got the phone when I was meant to.

@Jonmec  A pre-order is not a guarantee or receive advice on launch day and never has been and the T&Cs of your Anytime upgrade do stipulate that you have to have the same price contract or higher. The yearly price increase will obviously be the new price of your contract so it must be the same or higher cost of that tariff.

The decision to take advantage of the annual upgrade is down to you as you don’t have to do it as you’re still in the 24 month contract.

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

So do you believe EE has performed a good service in this instance?

I understand it’s a choice to annual upgrade but you pay a higher monthly price for the privilege so you may as well upgrade or what’s the point. Plus it may seem obvious to you about the upgrade fee and annual increase but the way it was put to me when I initially took out the contract was miss leading and so many others I gaurentee will feel the same way.

I think ordering 45 mins after pre orders open should guarantee at least 2nd day delivery I’m being told 14 days plus.
