Will I lose access to my physical sim when I upgrade to e sim?

I am going to be getting an iPhone 12 Pro this Christmas and I’d like to use an E SIM with the phone. I am currently using an iPhone X which doesn’t support E SIM however I’d like to have the E SIM before Christmas ready to set the phone up with it. My question thus is if I order an E SIM in time for Christmas, will I be able to continue to use my physical SIM in my iPhone X whilst I wait for Christmas to arrive.

Many thanks in advance for your help!

I went ahead and ordered the eSIM and luckily that new eSIM doesn't come activated. I have to go to the EE website and activate the 'card' when I want to use it, so I can continue to use my physical SIM until I have my new eSIM phone.

Thanks for your help @bristolian!

Hi @harryparsons02

You can only have one SIM active on a given mobile number at any time.

Others on here are more familiar with the e-SIM process and can hopefully advise further.
