Why do EE put in a discount which stops me from using my F&F discount?

I am trying to upgrade but when I choose the plan and then try and put the F&F discount code it doesn't allow me to put in the code. The section where you put the code in is shaded grey and I can't click on the 'apply code' key. It seems to me EE have already deducted a certain amount (discount) which stops me from putting my discount. I have a £7.50 discount on the plan from EE but I don't want that as I will get more off with the F&F discount. I have spoken to the tech team online and they don't know why and can't seem to take the £7.50 discount which they have applied. Why is that? has anyone come across this?

@muj1987 You can only have one discounts on the a tariff at any one time if the tariff is already discounted than you cannot apply another discount to it, if you want to get around this and apply your friends and family discount you will need to call customer services to order your tariff so the discount that’s already on the tariff can be removed and your friends and family discount applied to it.
