We have an electric gate that uses a SIM card, which you ring to open and close the gate.
obviously the sim in the gate never makes any outgoing calls or texts, how can I keep it ‘active’? I can top up the sim but I’ve seen on google about people getting their EE gate sims to send ‘status texts’ to their personal numbers every so often to keep the sim active. How do you set this up please or is simply topping up the SIM card enough?
thanks

@CharliFarrar Topping up the sim is not enough it needs to make a chargeable call/text to keep it activated. It only has to be every 3 months. It might be worth asking the company that makes that how to set up a status text. It might even be in the operation manual of your gate.

Thanks for coming to the community.
If you need any further information on your SIM going into hibernation, see our What is pay as you go and flex hibernation, and how do I stop it? post.
Thanks 🙂
