Transfer EE number to new phone?

I have upgraded my EE contract and got a new phone. They sent me a new sim but I want to use my current EE number. How does one go about this?

Just use your old SIM if it fits. New SIMs are issued with new phones just in case the old SIM doesn't work for any reason.
