Am trying to attach my WD Passport to my hub so it is accessible from all Macs... it connects, I can see it in Finder, however, I cannot access any of the files. The drive appears empty when connected to the Smart Hub. If I link it directly to the Mac Mini, I can see all my files.
Am I doing something wrong? Any help will be appreciated as I am testing this with a view to putting a brand new drive on the hub for use by all Macs as a time machine backup.

How's it connected to the EE SH? By USB or by Ethernet?

If it's anything like Windows you need SMB 1.0 enabled on the PC viewing the HDD.

SMB sharing is already enabled. I can view the files on the drive when connected directly, I can also view the the files from other macs if directly connected to the M1... it's just when I connect it to the home hub - all macs can see the drive, just not the data!
Will just leave it connected to the M1 that way we can all see it... was just hoping to be able to use the home hub as I am running out of usb ports!
But thanks anyway 🙂

I'm talking about the version no, 1.0, of the Samba protocol, not the feature itself.

That may be it then... not too sure what version Big Sur uses... am loathe to change it as all the macs connect nicely... was just being lazy as I ran out of ports on the M1.
