Hi,
This is my first post here, so please forgive any mistakes in etiquette or provided information. 🙂
I switched from giffgaff (i.e. the O2 network) to EE yesterday on my Huawei B535 4G router to improve connection quality. While overall speed and data rates have improved, I now can't use the Signal Messenger app and NordVPN on my Mac, which hasn't been a problem with giffgaff. Both experience timeouts for all requests they're sending.
While the iOS Signal app seems to be working without any problems via the router's WiFi and hence the EE network, the VPN cannot connect to a server on the iPhone as well.
I suspected that this has something to do with the protocols they're using, but switching from UDP to TCP in NordVPN didn't change anything.
All other apps and websites are running fine, including videoconferencing via Zoom.
The EE customer service has been very nice when I contacted them, but not helpful – they just said I'd have to contact Signal and NordVPN about the problem since it's about these particular apps.
Can anybody shed some light on this?
Thanks!
Wolfgang

Within the Routers APN / Profile settings for EE see if it's set to IPV4/IPV6, if so change the Setting to IPV4 Only.

That solved it, thank you so much! 🙏
Could I ask for a brief explanation of the background?
